Goddess

The Village Voice says Pado, lead vocalist and lyricist, “channels a pagan psyche-folk spirit akin to Marianne Moore venturing somewhere beyond the L Train- free verse in polyphonic harmony. This paradise has a dark side, but nothing pristine could ever be this fun.” Drawing inspiration from pagan spells, gnomes, blue collar New Jersey and its many myths, this project takes woo-woo and transforms it into twisted beauty.  For 25 years, Goddess carved a niche somewhere between experimental, indie, and the spooky in-between. Goddess has worked with a wide range of NYC musicians, including two time Grammy winner Leah Coloff, ( leahcoloff.com), David Grubbs, (dragcity.com), Peter Zummo, and Joe McGinty, ( joemcgintymusic.com). Their four releases can be found on all streaming services. Goddess has played venues such as the Sculpture Center, Wave Hill, the Queens Museum, the Brick Theater, and Chashama Gallery. Pado’s love of unconventional performance spaces has led Goddess to Brookyln stoops, tunnels, and the Hanging Tree in Washington Square Park. Goddess ended their project in 2023. “I think of Goddess as a durational piece,” said Pado, “ the music has a beginning and an end. It is floating, somewhere, in a glass orb. Peek inside and you’ll hear fragile sounds that are truly original.”
